Smartphones have come a long way in terms of innovation in the past couple of years. Chinese vendor Gionee has pulled the curtains on its newest Android handset, the Gionee Elife S5.1. Its predecessor, the Elife S5.5, was released not long ago, and quickly became notable for its body thickness, an ultra-thin 0.22 inches (5.5mm). Now, Gionee has outdone itself yet again, producing a smartphone whose sides measure a groundbreaking 0.2-inches thin (5.15mm)!This thinner than a pencil Slim Jim's exact dimensions are 5.5 inches x 2.65 inches x 0.2 inches (139.8mm×67.4mm×5.15mm). The phone's sides carry the maximum thinness, while the upper and lower sides are slightly wider - possibly in order to accommodate the micro-USB port and headphone jack.
Aside from being fashionably skinny, the Gionee Elife S5.1 is a compact and beautiful phone with more refined looks compared to its predecessor. Alas, the trade-off is that Gionee has opted for mid-range internals for one reason or another - possibly to not strain the 2100mAh battery it somehow managed to fit in its chassis.

Oppo R5
Oppo shocked everyone with the announcement of its new Smart phone called as the Oppo R5. The device is mere 4.85mm thick, making it the thinnest or the slimmest smartphone ever made till date. Earlier the title of slimmest smartphone was held by two smartphones from Gionee, starting with Elife S5.5 and later was followed by Elife S5.1.
Oppo R5 will feature a 5.2 inch FHD display with 423 ppi and has stainless steel body with micro-arc frame that is hand polished. Under the steel body, we have a Snapdragon 615, Octa-core processor coupled with 2 GB of RAM. We have seen that these thin devices tend to heat up very soon, so Oppo has introduced a Cool Element technology that uses liquid metal like substance to cool the device. The device has a 13 MP rear facing camera accompanied with 5 MP camera on the front. There is also a 200 mAh battery and the device will run Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Colour OS v2.0 on top. The device is priced at $499 and will be going for sale in December.
ZTE Grand Memo 2
ZTE had showcased the Grand Memo 2 LTE at MWC 2014 which is a pretty slim device as well with a thickness of 7.2mm. The phablet has 6.0 inch screen which has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels with a pixel density of 245ppi. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 chipset under the hood.
The internal storage stands at 16GB which can be expanded by another 32GB with a microSD card. Taking charge of the multitasking department is a 2GB RAM. At the back is a 13.0MP camera with a 5.0MP front camera. It gets 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS for aiding your connectivity. A 3,200 mAh battery unit gives the smartphone the juice to run.

Apple’s iPhone 5S and iPhone round up the list of slimmest smartphones with 7.6mm thickness. They both run on iOS 7 and have a 4-inch screen and 8MP rear camera. The newer iPhone also has a Touch ID fingerprint scanner and faster processor.

The Apple iPhone 6 features a 4.7-inch display with sapphire crystal glass protection. It is powered by a Apple A8 64-bit processor and 1GB RAM. The iPhone 6 sports an 8MP rear camera with dual-LED flash and a 1.2MP front camera. The phone has 16GB of non-expandable internal storage. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi, 3G (HSPA+ 42.2Mbps), 4G LTE, Bluetooth 4.0, and NFC. The iPhone 6 comes with a non-removable Li-Po 1810mAh battery. It runs on the iOS 8 operating system.
Sony Xperia Z2

Motorola Droid Razr
The competition among the thinnest Android smartphone started when the Motorola released Droid Razr in competitor of Galaxy Nexus just a day before the launch. The Droid Razr got a critical success as the device was thinnest, slimmest and provided hand some of features but eventually both the devices here didn’t make any bigger impact. For most of the reasons Motorola Droid Razr is known for it slim design with thickness at 7.1 mm.
When it debut, the device dethrones the previous title holder Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc by 1.6 mm which is a major consideration in terms of the design. However the run of Droid Razr didn’t last long as many other manufacturers have realized the design should be important criteria along with the hardware and the software design. Alcatel OneTouch Idol X
Last year's Alcatel flagship, the OneTouch Idol X, really made the rounds, as it featured one of the slimmest chassis out there, at 0.27" (6.9mm, and at the same time offered a 5" 1080p display and a 13 MP camera for half the price of the flagships at the time. It is still one of the thinnest and lightest well-spec'd and affordable smartphones out there.
